Anglia exams on primary schools in the South-west of the Netherlands..

On May 19th, 2022, I drove to schools in Wolphaartsdijk, Goes, and Sliedrecht to examine 11 and 12-year-old pupils from the local schools there. In the previous months, they had taken an English course, organized by Winnish and I had the chance to improve their skills such as comprehensive reading, listening practices, grammar, especially tenses such as the simple present, simple past, present continuous, and present perfect. They learned new vocabulary about the school, jobs, transport, food, animals, etc. 

It was so much fun to see them grow in their English skills! They worked really hard, and made their homework almost every time ; ) We watched short videos about prepositions, explanations of certain tenses, and especially the irregular verbs rap was a hit!

In lesson 14, the pupils made a practice exam, in order to be prepared for the real exam that would take place the next week.

The exam day itself was hit by heavy rainfalls, in contrast with previous weeks, even months of sunny weather.

It was a challenge to reach Sliedrecht that day for many cars and trucks stopped and parked their vehicle alongside the highway because of the bad sight and danger of aquaplaning. I drove very slowly and carefully, my eyes focused on the backlights of the car driving in front of me.

I was thankful and relieved that I reached school unharmed and on time, where the pupils of the school made their exam from 13.30-15.00, it was a group of 32 pupils, and all of them were Preliminary level.

I had given the course online for 12 weeks so it was very nice to meet them now in person!

At the other schools in Wolkphaartsdijk and Goes, there were three levels to test: Junior, Primary, and Preliminary.

Because I live in Noordgouwe, I was able to teach those pupils physically.  It's a 30-minute drive.

Luckily, I was allowed to use the teachers' room for the listening exam while their own teachers stayed in class to administer the reading/writing exam.

On the same day, I sent the exams to Chichester in England where they will be corrected and the results will be sent by email.

Finally, the certificates will be sent to my address and then the crowning moment will be there when the pupils receive their ESL certificates!
